At Shedrow Farm and Therapy, we bring horses and people together for the greater good. Just minutes from St. Louis, our sanctuary is a place where neighbors unite, lives are touched, and mutual healing creates a stronger, more compassionate community. We empower our region through interactive kids' camps, youth learning, and rewarding volunteer opportunities—inviting people of all skill levels to learn, serve, and experience the life-changing bond between humans and horses.
At Shedrow Farm,
we rescue horses from the brink and fight fiercely for their future. Located in Millstadt, Illinois, we step in where hope has failed: horses broken by the racetrack, abandoned to neglect, or bound for slaughter-bound kill pens. Some horses we bring back to full strength. Others, we give a peaceful, dignified retirement. Either way, every horse at Shedrow Farm gets the second chance it deserves.
But our work doesn't end at the pasture gate. Through special programs offered as therapy for humans, we open Shedrow Farm to the St. Louis community, so that neighbors, volunteers, and families can experience firsthand the transformative experience that happens when people and horses heal each other.
““It began with Sir Anthony.”
When Sir Anthony suffered a broken knee on the race track, his future was on the line. Saving his life wasn’t just a rescue—it was the catalyst that built Shedrow Farm and Therapy. Sir Anthony showed us the incredible power of resilience, proving that every horse, no matter their injuries or past, deserves a second chance to heal and be loved.”
Behind every horse that steps onto our sanctuary grounds is a story of survival—and a future full of hope. We believe in the quiet magic that happens when humans and horses heal each other. Through compassionate rehabilitation and dedicated stewardship, we help forgotten horses rediscover their trust and spirit. Join our community and be a part of their journey.
