Whether you're a college student, a retiree looking to give back, a busy professional, or a group from a local business or school, there is a place for you in our barn family. No prior horse experience is needed—our team will happily teach you everything you need to know.

Volunteering at Shedrow Farm isn’t just rewarding work—it is an absolute blast! If you love being outdoors, getting your hands dirty, and surrounded by 60+ incredible animals with huge personalities, there is no better place to spend a morning or afternoon.

Here is what makes volunteering with us so much fun:

  • Instant Horse Best Friends: There is nothing quite like walking down the aisle and having a barn full of horses nicker in greeting because they recognize you. You’ll get to know their quirky personalities—from the gentle giants who love nose scratches to the curious goofs who want to inspect your jacket pockets.

  • The Best Workout Around: Forget boring gym routines! Swapping gym weights for fresh air, hauling hay, walking horses down pasture lanes, and grooming coats until they shine is the most energizing, outdoor workout you can get.

  • An Unbeatable Community Vibe: Because we are 100% volunteer-run, everyone here is united by a shared passion. You’ll join a welcoming, tight-knit crew of adults aged 18+ who love to laugh, swap stories, work together, and support one another. It feels less like labor and more like hanging out with family in the barn.

  • Learn True Horsemanship: No experience? No problem! One of the fun parts of joining our team is learning the ropes from scratch—from learning how to handle big Thoroughbreds to understanding horse body language, grooming techniques, and sanctuary care.

  • The "Barn Therapy" Effect: Life outside the gates can be stressful, but the moment you step onto the farm, everything slows down. The soothing sound of horses munching on hay, the smell of fresh pine shavings, and the quiet connection with a rescued horse is the ultimate stress-reliever.

Fresh air

Pen pastures, sunshine, and fresh air. Whether you're turning horses out, hauling hay, walking pasture lanes, or grooming in the barn breeze, volunteering here is the ultimate nature-filled stress reliever.

Lasting impact

When you help heal a horse, you change their entire world forever. The trust restored at Shedrow Farm ripples far beyond our pastures—shaping new futures, touching human hearts, and leaving a legacy of compassion that lasts for generations.
